Top 10 Love Songs

As it's February (honestly that connection just occurred to me today at work...), this top 10 list is especially appropriate. These songs come from every decade and cover a lot of genres. Like I said with the Top 10 albums list, I'm not claiming these are eternal classics, just stuff I love right now. They're in no particular order, just as I thought of them--

1. Wild Horses (The Rolling Stones)--The title says it all. "Wild horses couldn't drag me away."

2. The Littlest Birds (The Be Good Tanyas)--Included this one because it describes me too perfectly. "I love you so dearly, I love you so clearly, I wake you up in the mornin' so early..." Previous Boyfriend can back me up on that one. I can only entertain myself for so long!

3. Maybe I'm Amazed (Paul McCartney)--"Baby I'm amazed at the way you love me all the time...maybe I'm afraid of the way I really need you." McCartney was recognized at the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors, where Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters front man) and Norah Jones did the most beautiful cover of this song.

4. Unforgettable (Nat King Cole)--Incredibly cheesy, but such a perfect sentiment. "That's why, darling, it's incredible that someone so unforgettable thinks that I am unforgettable too."

5. Here, There and Everywhere (The Beatles)--"To lead a better life, I need my love to be here." This was actually my parents' wedding song. Old people are too cute. Even though they had it first, I still love this song.

6. Thirteen (Big Star)--Expresses the sweet simplicity of "love" for preteens. Also, best line in any song, ever: "Rock 'n roll is here to stay, come inside where it's okay."

7. Just the Way You Are (Bruno Mars)--"Girl you're amazing, just the way you are." Everyone should hear that. Often.

8. I've Just Seen a Face (The Beatles)--Had to include this one. Someone used to sing this to me (usually in public, even when I begged him to be quiet), and it was the cutest thing ever.

9. I Will (The Beatles)--A man completely emasculated. "Will I wait a lonely lifetime? If you ask me to, I will." Love it.

10. Banana Pancakes (Jack Johnson)--Call me a sap, but I love this song. And doesn't it sound kind of perfect? "Maybe we can sleep in, I'll make you banana pancakes, Pretend like it's the weekend now. And we could pretend it all the time." Food, sleep, and cuddling? Sounds pretty good to me.
